Gathered Sculpture...
The work is a deliberate departure from my more illustration style of drawings. It is not that I don’t like slightly humorous, clever drawings; I will certainly keep making those. But with the sculpture I want to investigate an entire different range of thought. It is a much more abstract world, where occasionally we can recognize familiar elements, but where in the end things are unknown and not know-able. It is about the image of the piece, about the shape. It is about the combination of a serendipitous find (a glass chard from a glass that broke, hiding in the bottom of the dishwasher for weeks) and putting these found elements parts together in a deliberate way. It is not about the story.
