Florida Man and Other Tales

Gawain witnessed 24 virgins coalesce into a single old woman. Florida Man threw an alligator into a Wendy’s. What is the relationship in terms of cultural/historical significance between a medieval allegory and a twitter account devoted to bizarre Florida crimes? How do you tell someone’s a virgin just by looking? How big was the alligator, really?
Rachel Warkentin is a Portland based artist who received her MFA from Claremont Graduate University, with a BFA from Oregon State University. She is currently working to integrate the centuries-old materials and traditions of egg tempera and mineral painting with 90’s “shrinky dink” plastic, drawing inspiration from the Florida Man twitter account and Chaucer’s Canterbury tales.
