“Tattoo Tree Landscapes”
Subtracting tree tattoos from the landscape of the body, to be added once again to a constructed image Lily Hudnell-Almas plays with themes of abstraction, using tattoos to create a collection of images that intertwine inked skin and landscape.
The exhibit features nine prints from her study of how tree body art reflects the wearers’ connection to nature and their sense of place. Hudnell-Almas’ “Tattoo Tree Landscapes” series documents one way that individuals have found to connect to the world around them through tattoos. The series includes photos of tattoos and landscapes that have been digitally manipulated to create a collection of superimposed images that bring together art and nature.
